Reaching for space with ShakthiSAT Bahamas

Akhepran International Academy and our founder, Dr. Jacinta Higgs, lead the Bahamas chapter of ShakthiSAT, a global STEM mission that brings girls together to design, build and launch a satellite.

ShakthiSAT connects girls from around the world through a shared goal: building a satellite together. Participants study aerospace, coding, robotics and leadership, and train with astronauts and engineers. The mission is built around the theme of “Peace & Power”.

A global classroom

For our scholars, ShakthiSAT is the Trinity of Teaching in action. Physics, mathematics and computing become tools for a real mission, and the girls who take part learn to work with peers from other countries and cultures.

Support the mission

ShakthiSAT Bahamas is raising funds so that more Bahamian scholars can take part. Families, businesses and friends of the school can sponsor a student.
